PDP Aspirant for the position of Chairman Ekeremor Local Government Council, Bayelsa State 2019, Okporu Germaine writes about the rotational policy of Ekeremor Local Government Area Chairmanship. In this article, he reveals that following the rotational policy, this is the time for ward 4 or 5 to rule.
You’ll do well to read it – enjoy it.

Ekeremor Local Government Area is made up of three constituencies. The chairmanship of the council election is on zoning among the constituencies. The last elected chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Council is from constituency two,  so the incoming Chairman of the Council is zoned to constituency one.
Constituency one is made up of five political wards. Some of the wards in constituency one has produced elected and caretaker chairmen, but some wards are yet to produce both Elected and Caretaker Chairmen.

The policy of zoning is that, the position is rotating among the wards in the zoning area. Once a ward has produced the position, the next zoning opportunity is that the ward will not aspire to have that position until all other wards have produced, it is only then it’s allowed to produce another again – zoning is on rotation basis.

Zoning on political position like chairmanship is based on rotation with the political wards made up of the constituency. Political position zoning isn’t rotated on villages or clans. Political position zoning is rotated on political wards in the area. But, traditional rulers’ election may zone on clan basis.

In constituency one in Ekeremor Local Government Area, from our findings we  discovered that, of the five political wards in the constituency, Ward 1, 2, and 3 has produced elected and appointed caretaker chairman, but Ward 4 and 5 has not produced neither elected chairman nor appointed caretaker chairman. In view of the rotational policy in constituency one for the chairmanship, it favors Ward 4 and 5 to aspire to have the aforementioned position 2019.

I would that the good people of Ekeremor Local Government  Area and the Restoration Government share their take on this issue; a town in ward one, Ayasama that has produced elected chairman still vying for the EKELGA Chairmanship again, when  others [ward 4 & 5] are yet to have a pinch  of it – is it fair considering the rotational policy in constituency one?

Also not forgetting Isampou community which is in ward 1 in constituency 1, that has produced both elected and caretaker chairmen plus the current chairman of SIEC.  It just doesn’t  add up to allow a community that has chairman of SIEC to go ahead to also produce the incoming elected chairman, whereas, some wards have not produced elected chairman neither appointed caretaker chairman.

My people is it fair? I trust you know the God of heaven and earth is watching, huh? It’s a cinch he’ll come to the rescue of Ward 4 and 5 that has been deprived the chairmanship position all these years. In Jesus name amen.
