South African Trumpeter, Hugh Masekela died at his home country - Johannesburg.

In a statement issued by his relatives, it reveals that the legendary musician died after battling with prostrate cancer.


Africa's Jazz legend, Hugh Masekela has been declared dead in a statement issued by his family on tuesday. In it, it was disclosed that the Father of South African Jazz as he is fondly called suffered from prostrate cancer.

The acclaimed South African trumpeter died at age 78 in his country (Johannesburg). Until his demise, he is recognized internationally through his Afro-jazz sound and his hit song: Soweto Blues.
