'February 21 Every Year To Be Known As 'Robert Mugabe's National Youth Day', The Herald Newspaper Reports.

Zimbabwe's government has declared february 21st every year as a public holiday to mark her former president, Robert Gabriel Mugabe's birthday, following an intense lobbying by the Zanu-PF youth league.

Robert Gabriel Mugabe who ruled Zimbabwe from Harare for 37 years, whose birthday is february 21st, has been enshrined in the country's statutory instrument 143, published in the government's Gazette on friday as public holiday.

This was made possible, following calls for a declaration of national public holiday on his birthday by the Zanu-PF youth league since August.

To honour their leader, and indeed the end to his era, several infrastructures and institutions have been named after them viz:

• The country's biggest airport.

• Zimbabwe's School of Intelligence and others.
