Steven now a father of two, related to me his childhood days and parental upbringing. He narrated thus: 'when I was a child, my father would advice me, "Son, work is the path to wealth, if you don't work you sure won't have money to meet your needs". He further narrated that, he was sitting at the vicinity with his dad one evening, when a man visited and gave him some money for a service he offered the man a couple days ago, and they used the money to buy some necessary articles in the home.
The other day on his way to school he met a classmate of his. Perplexed as to the reason he has been absent since resumption, he asked, "Mike, why have you not been coming to school?"
"My dad says he doesn't want to work anymore, he said he'll be rich without working that we should watch and see. That's the reason I've been playing truancy since resumption" he replied.
From my classmates fathers choice, I saw the damaging consequences should I ever live idle. I made a promise to myself that I'll keep to my fathers values' he told me.
