It would seem the founder of African Music, Movie & Comedy Award (AMMCA), Prince Oku, better known as Mc Daddy Saint, took an oath with one of the most remarkable words of former South African President, Nelson Mandela, which reads: 'We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in our hands to make a difference.' - his vision and works are amazing.
If you're a fan of African entertainment, I bet it wouldn't come as news knowing there are a ton of award shows: Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA); All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMMA), etc.
Although there are a plethora of entertainers in Africa, it sucks to know that only a handful seem to be on the A-list (relatively few reaching superstar status each year), and the majority of unknown acts are barely given the empowerment needed to shoot to stardom. Gosh!
Persons who care to know are aware that Oku's AMMCA is providing hope and platform for entertainers across the continent whose works is worthy of commendation - beyond honouring those who have succeeded in the entertainment industry, AMMCA, is poised to see 'others' excel. This is all we need and should welcome wholeheartedly.
The Ideal Award Show Is Here
The award show, African Music, Movie & Comedy Award (AMMCA) was launched in 2008 at Ondo State by Prince Oku, better known as Mc Daddy Saint. The one goal in his mind has always been to honour entertainers who are committed (and good) to their craft - an excerpt of his chat with our reporter.
"The vision behind this platform is to use it to encourage men and women who have contributed immensely towards the development of entertainment in Nigeria and Africa in general.
"To reward creative excellence in the creative industry, we move round the entire states of the federation annually.
"We are very original and we only reward those who merit it and are very serious with their craft or area of specialisation.
It's Time To Smile Dear Entertainers!
While we can't be thankful enough to other award shows for their great works, it's key we realize that AMMCA seems to offer a lot of opportunities for entertainers across the entertainment genres, plus it's very much obsessed about up-and-coming acts who need support.
From launching a foundation to empower talented acts to educating people in the creative industry, I dare say the award show is the best thing to happen in Africa - hear what he said in an exclusive interview.
"AMMCA is unique & different from other award event platforms because we are interested in celebrating our brothers and sisters who are original and are doing very well in music, acting, comedy, media, modelling, MCs, dancers, DJs and art so that other upcoming ones can emulate them.
"We are planning to unveil AMMCA foundation in this years edition which is going to be fully into discovery & grooming of talents from all over Africa especially for those who are into entertainment.
"Our dream is to make AMMCA no 1 award event in the entire globe & to help in the development of our creative industry in Africa so with the way we are going we will definitely get there."
