PrideMonth: 'End LGBTQ Oppression!' - Nigerian Singer, Timi Nero Pleads, Tells Horrifying Stories

As the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LQBTQ) community and allies alike celebrate Pride Month in all 30 days this June, celebrities like Taylor Swift, Niecy Nash, Demi Lovato among others have not only taken to social media to reaffirm their sexual-orientation, but raise their thumbs up to queer people who have been able to tell the world their sexuality  and advocate for its decriminalization as well.

"Stepping into my first Pride Month like I'm accepting invitations, gifts & welcome packets! I'm nominating @Kingofbingo" - Niecy Nash

"I want to take a moment to thank the courageous activist, advocates and allies for their dedication to fighting against discrimination and hatred. And as always, today I am sending respect and love to those bravely living out their truth, even when the world we live in still makes that so hard to do.

"Who you love and how you identify shouldn't put you in danger, leave you vulnerable or hold you back in life. I proudly join GLAAD in their #SummerOfEquality and add my voice to those who support the equality act. Happy Pride Month" - Taylor Swift among others.

The case of Africa, the continent of the blacks is one full of gloom and doom given that only 22 out of the 54 countries in the continent deem it right to give freedom to LGBTQ folks - Nigeria which passed a bill into law known as Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA) February 5, 2014, criminalizing same-sex relationship, leaves queer people in fear over celebrating (the Pride Month) so as not to be cancelled.

But hey, amazingly talented Nigerian Singer, Doutimiye Owonaro better known as Timi Nero wouldn't keep quiet as he feels we've gone past the age of discrimating someone on ground of sexual-orientation.

Taking to his social media handle a few hours ago, the Bayelsan native stated that to those who enjoy inflicting harms on gay people, he would they realize that they are not any different from the white racist who feels black lives don't matter, as he called on homophobias to quit spreading hate through God's name.

"It's Pride Month. If you're still hating on the gay man because he's gay, you're just like the white man who hates the black man for being black. God is God of love, so why spread hate in his name?".

Speaking further, the graduate of Mass Communication lampooned on guys who frown at the activities of disbanded police unit, SARS for harassing young men with dreadlocks, judging people based on their appearance - even as they tag them cultists, fraudsters and other offensive names - but are quick to lynch gay men.

"You hate it when SARS harrasses Nigerians for carrying dreads, profiling them as cultists and yahoo boys but you'd jump up at an opportunity to bully physically and online a gay man".

The series of posts which ended by having the 25-year-old dark-skinned singer state that he isn't persuading anyone to be gay or support their sexual-orientation, noted that he is only insisting just about anyone be allowed to love whoever they choose to - irrespective of gender - girl dating girl; boy dating boy.

"I'm not telling you to be gay or support gays. I'm just telling you to look the other way if e pain you. People should be allowed to love whoever they wish to.

"In this new age of enlightment, youths should be bold enough to discard the archaic and erroneous teachings of our fathers and embrace tolerance in a bid to foster love, peace and unity. #EndLGBTQOppression".

Checks by Pokovirtuousblog reveals that PrideMonth is celebrated annually from June 1 to 30th. The event which is considered a tribute to victims of Stonewall Riot, June 28, 1969 is organized by persons who identify as LGBTQ and allies.
