If you're an entertainment lover in Bayelsa State, am pretty sure you very well know that the state's acts are very much talented - when it comes to making good songs you can count on them. Although the majority of her entertainers are relatively unknown, they wouldn't allow obscurity hinder them from recording good musical piece - one such act is J-Money.
B-list Delta Bayelsa-based Afropop Singer, Jacob Godspower Makaiva better known as J-Money is one ambitious artiste in the state you can confirm to be talented, if only you'd give his musical pieces a listen. The 5th of 9 children hails from Okpokunu, Delta State. The singer who started making music a few years ago, is poised to get better each day, as evident in his works.
The independent artiste who is yet to release an album, has several songs under his belt: 'Talk'; 'Tessy Babe'; 'Celebrate'; 'Show Me Love' among others. Speaking with Pokovirtuousblog on what inspired him to start recording music, he stated:
"Each time I attend a show, and see artistes performing I tell myself: 'Jacob you can do it' - that is how I started going to music studios to have my songs recorded".
Given that Bayelsa State is still in its nascent stage in everything music - some artistes think there is no music industry in the state. It is only logical to know that there'll be challenges, hence our reporter asked him about the type of challenges the state's industry is laden with - and the advice he has to give. In his response, the light-skinned singer revealed:
"The difficulty artistes face here is having leaders that are not focused and concerned about entertainment. We need leaders that love to boost entertainment".
On his advice to leaders in the state, he noted, 'The state needs leaders who would focus on the state's untapped entertainment sector. They should create opportunities for up-and-coming artistes'.
As to where he looks to be in few years time career-wise, J-Money states, 'I've learnt to be focused on my career. Am very sure that in 5 years time my name would be heard all over the world'.
