Boro Day: 'We Need To Value Intellectualism As Against The Present Deifying Of Criminals' - Social Critic, Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli States
Nigerian Social Critic, Author, Politician and President, Niger Delta Non-violence Agitators Forum (NDNAF), Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli has joined millions of Niger Deltans to mark Boro's Day - May 16, 2021. The high-profile Bayelsan who likes to call himself the 'mirror and conscience of society' graced the occasion in Abuja yesterday - even as it held in other states.
Speaking on the need to uphold the use of 'Intellectual' over 'criminal' approach in our desire to keep the legacy of late Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, the 45-year-old Human Right Activist stated on his Facebook profile yesterday that it was on account of knowledge acquisition that Boro resigned from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to get an education, adding that if we must move forward, it behooves on us to embrace 'Intellectualism' and quit 'dignifying' criminals as role models.
"We need to emulate the positive legacies of Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro that we celebrate annually. Boro knew the overwhelming importance of EDUCATION that was the basic reason he left the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to pursue Education.
"For us to move forward as a great people we must place high premium on INTELLECTUALISM. We need to value our Intellectuals as against the present relegation of Intellectualism while deifying, dignifying and celebrating Criminals as Role Models..."
Pokovirtuousblog learnt that Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro is a Nigerian Political Activist, Soldier and Minority Right Activist who was killed in May 9, 1968 in his quest for Niger Delta's freedom.
