'Africa Is Too Invested In Entertainment' - Reno Omokri Reveals, Says, 'We Prefer Downloading The Songs Of Thuggish Rappers'

 • FreeLeahSharibu Convener, Reno Omokri comes for African youths.

• Lament the rate at which they love entertainment visavis education.

The Founder of 'Build Up Nigeria' and Convener 'FreeLeahSharibu' movement, Bemigho Reno Omokri has thrown shades at African youths for their extreme love for downloading  entertainment contents - but having little or no interest to download books. The 'Mind of Christ Christian Centre' Pastor who took to his Instagram handle yesterday to make the statement, revealed that our apathy for anything reading explains why we are poor - as the continent is a big fan of entertainment.

How he posted it on Instagram, 'I recently saw the data of internet downloads in Africa. Over 90% of the downloads in Africa are either music, or movies and TV shows. We hardly download books. Africa is too invested in entertainment and less so in education. We need to flip this! On social media, African youths dissect the latest songs, movies and TV shows. But hardly the latest books. Successful billionaires write books, but we prefer downloading the latest song of the thuggish rappers. Why are we poor? Because we hardly read!'.

Checks by Pokovirtuousblog reveals his followers are quite divided about his statement - while some raises their thumbs up, others did quite the opposite. From saying he's just spoken the truth to a fan asking 'For your pocket who book help?', here's what Instagram users are saying about his post.

Markeddo, 'I wholeheartedly agree Reno';  iamsirmike, 'The blunt truth'; Judeoiwoh, 'There are plenty reasons why we are poor, but certainly not because we don't read. Next advice please'; Dc_nation12, 'Abeg na who done rich dey read book o'; Per_fectlove, 'Sadly, the average Nigerian youth sees reading as boring, and something that cannot give the huge amount of money s/he wants'; Jossyjamz, 'True we need to wake up'.
