Gov. el-Rufai Advises Youths, 'Good People' To Embrace Politics, Says Protesting Will Take Them Nowhere

 • Kaduna State Executive Governor, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai harps on the need for youths/influential Nigerians to get into politics.

• Stated this on the show 'Urgent Conversations' at Radio Now 95.3, Lagos.

Yesterday the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai played guest on one of Radio Now 95.3's show 'Urgent Conversations' - Channels TV and Nextier are partners of the program. In the show, the 61-year-old politician and founding member of the All Progressives Congress called on influential Nigerians (telecom guys, bankers, wealthy imams, pastors etc) to embrace politics and not just stay at the sidelines and criticize.

His words, 'My call to Nigerians is, if you want to see better governance, be part of the selection process of those that offer themselves for public service and politics...We must have our best people in politics. We must not have them in banks, in telecom...protesting will take you nowhere until you have a seat at the table and the most important table is that political table...'

Speaking on the need for youths to get into politics, the 'Accidental Public Servant' author noted that statistics shows that over 5 million Nigerian  youths attain the age of 18 yearly, adding that given their huge population they'll sure chase out old men like him and take over leadership and effect those change they yearn for - but that would only be possible when they choose to participate in politics - and not just take to the street protesting.
