Hon. Fred Obua Harps On Peaceful Coexistence And Harmonious Living As He Flags-off Peace And Conflict Resolution Training For Constituents With Visits To Ogbia Council Chairman And Kingdom's First Class Monarchs


Right Honourable Fred Azibapu Obua, (FNIQS), Member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Information, has stressed the need for peaceful coexistence and harmonious living in Society, stating that Peace and Harmony are pivotal to every meaningful development.



Hon. Obua stated this while speaking at the Ogbia Local Government Council  Secretariat while being played host to by the Council Chairman, Hon. Ebinyu Turner.

Hon. Obua who remarked that the courtesy visit to the Council Chairman was to intimate the Leadership of the Council of the holding of the two-day sensitization/advocacy and training on Peace-building and conflict resolution, thanked the Council Chairman for his warm reception even at short notice.

In his remarks, the Ogbia Council  Chairman, Hon. Ebinyu Turner, while thanking Hon. Obua, the Resource Persons from the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution and other Members of the delegation for the visit, stated that the importance of Peace and Unity cannot be overemphasized.

He commended Hon. Obua for facilitating the trainings and providing effective representation, calling for more of such Legislative actions. 

Also speaking, the Leader of the Ogbia Legislative Assembly, Hon. Confidence Moses described Hon. Obua's records of achievement at the Green Chambers as unprecedented.

At the Palace of His Eminence, King Dumaro Charles Owaba, the Obanobhan the third  of Ogbia Kingdom, Hon.Obua who stated that he was at the Palace to pay traditional homage, used the opportunity to render his stewardship and his planned legislative interventions for his Federal Constituency. 

In his response, His Eminence, King Dumaro Charles Owaba, Obanobhan the third of Ogbia Kingdom and traditional Oracle of Ogbia People, who extolled the rich cultural heritage, economic and political relevance of the Ogbia People, appreciated the Ogbia Federal Lawmaker for his effective representation, thanking him for presenting the Bill for an Act for the establishment of the Oloibiri Oil and Gas Museum/Research Centre which is at the third reading stage, the moving of the Motion for the reconstruction of the collapsed Elebele Bridge, and the facilitation of trainings amongst others, declaring that in Obua Ogbia has seen a worthy Lawmaker who is not a noise maker but a silent achiever.

In his contribution, the National Chairman of the Ogbia Brotherhood - the socio-cultural Umbrella body of the Ogbia People, Dr. Azibanalaguo Seibofa stated that the generality of the Ogbia People are pleased with Hon. Obua's peace efforts, people-oriented representation and his planned legislative action(s) on the call for the reconstruction of the Etegwe - Ogbia Road, staying that the Ogbia People are peace-loving and shall continue to be more peaceful and united.



At the Palace of His Majesty King Omie Theophilus, Obanobhan of Anyama Clan of Ogbia Kingdom, Hon. Obua after giving his scorecard in the last one year under review, declared his readiness to take Legislative action(s) to arrest the menace of erosion bedevilling the area, stating that no effort will be spared in tackling the Ecological challenges of Anyama-Ogbia.

Responding, His Majesty, King Omie Theophilus thanked the Lawmaker for his unprecedented regard to the Traditional Institution and his commitment to taking Legislative steps to save Anyama-Ogbia from going into extinction.

In their separate remarks during the Visits, Pastor Patrick Okoro and Mr. Andy Nkemmene, both Resource Persons from the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution who spoke onbehalf of the rest of the delegation from the Institute noted that Peace building is continuous and regular sensitisation and advocacy on Peace is needed if Society must develop.

Highlights of the Visits are the presentations of insignias depicting Peace and the taking of group photographs as well as observance of moment of silence in honour of deceased Father of Hon. Obua who passed to the great beyond early this Month.

It is expected that after these trainings, Ogbia Federal Constituency will be more peaceful with less personal and group conflicts for greater positive development to take place.

The two-day sensitisation Advocacy on Peace and conflict resolution Management training sessions Proper for Constituents and Stakeholders which will culminate on Saturday September, 2020 was declared open by Hon. Fred Obua, the Facilitator of the  programme and Member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, wherein he congratulated the Participants and urged them to cultivate the culture of Peace in aid of positive human relationship for societal development. 

In his opening remarks at the training session, the Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Bakut Bakut , representated by Mrs Abaiya Abaiya, stated that Peace promotion and effective management of conflicts are critical needs of society and the gospel of Peace should continually be preached for the betterment of Society. 

Participants in their numbers in their separate remarks commended Hon. Obua for facilitating the organization of the Training Sessions, adding that the lessons learnt will be applied for the overall upliftment of Society.
