Niger Delta Herald Sports Man of the year is Mr. Ebi egbe, fondly and affectionately called ‘Monimichelle’ by his ever growing list of admirers, offline and online . What a Year, What a man. At the beginning of the year, his traducers gathered into the North, South, East and West ready to ‘devour’ him. Today, every Single one of them has been delivered into his hand and he has crushed them to fine powder and sand dust, some misguided and unfortunate elements took out cyber spaces blackmailing him over the projects he is handling at the sports complex in Yenagoa, the Capital of Bayelsa State.
How did he able to wriggle his way out? It could be noted that none of his traducers accused the sports facilities construction giant of being incompetent, but he knows “the thing” in the sports construction industry, he is a major player across the globe, as his projects are littered across Nigeria and Africa.
Love for His People
When he felt those who have” benefited “from successive governments in the state failed to invest in Bayelsa state, he moved the Corporate Headquarters of his company from the eyebrow area of Ikoyi in Lagos, to the Capital of Bayelsa State Yenagoa .According to him, “Yenagoa is the city of love, I Love my city.” His coming home has boosted the employment status of Yenagoa , because his firm has been able to engage youths in the area of sports construction and skills acquisition.

His Philanthropy
Ebi Egbe has never hidden his love for his people by donating generously to the down-trodden in his native Ijawland . it is on record that every yuletide season he dishes out gifts to people on minding where they hail from .He gave out rice, tubers of yam, and cash to people as gifts. Before he left the country to celebrate the yuletide with his family in Europe , he left encouraging words for Bayelsans. He noted that the development of Bayelsa is a collective agenda, stressing that crime and other socials vices can be addressed through meaningful job creation through industrialization and youth engagement. Recently he donated sports kits and equipments to kids that engage in sports .The seven- year -old Quickpen who is a chess sensation in Africa and three time winner of the National Kids Chess Championship was supported to embark on her trip to Namibia for the African Championship, which she came tops in West Africa and Fifth in the entire Africa.
Mr. Ebi Egbe the Chief Executive Officer Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited also condemned in strong terms alleged act of looting of government properties by some top officials of the out- going government of Henry Dickson. Ebi Egbe took to his social media page , “We have lived in Bayelsa state for over 14 years without holding a Government position, moved our Corporate head office (Monimichelle sports) from Ribadu Road Ikoyi to our capital city Yenagoa, supported the sports sector by contributing outdoor courts complete with drainage and shower rooms, supported different groups in Bayelsa state, stood firmly with our para- soccer team, supported our Athletic teams, created ijaw United football club and Izon Ibe football club, created parties when there were no parties in Bayelsa night life also supported Government in hosting the first ever female championship finals in Yenagoa with over 120 million viewers on Super Sports Africa and single handedly sponsored and organised the first ever Sports Summit in Bayelsa state, wine and dinned with every one without local Government dichotomy or class dichotomy.
Attraction of Competitions to Bayelsa State
With his wealth of connections across the globe, Ebi Egbe has attracted competitions to the state that have attracted visitors and revenue to the government. A case in point is the hosting of the AITEO Female Challenge cup, with attracted viewers all over the world because Super Sports was on ground to relay the match to over 120 million viewers around the world.
His Avowed Stance Against graft
Ebi Egbe has always kicked against compromising standards for personal gains; little wonder some politicians do not fancy his style of “no compromise”. For all these and many more Ebi Egbe alias Monimichele is the Niger Delta Herald Newspaper Man of the Year 2019. He will surely do more in the year 2020.
