Reasons The Gay Community In Nigeria Should Be Wise | Poko Virtuous | Gay Life

The enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA) in Nigeria 2014, criminalizes the practice of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) persons. Consequently many have fallen victim to the sword of the merciless anti-gay law.

Poko Virtuous a Nigerian Digital Journalist and Motivational speaker, writes on how the LGBTQ community can better enjoy life in Nigeria and finally overturn the anti-gay law.

"Sodomy is against the law of Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture"-

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari

Following the enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA) in Nigeria 2014, gay men now live in fear, mob violence and treated as second class citizens in their homeland.

But what grieves me most is the fact that, the majority of them are making grave mistakes - the gay community in Nigeria have to tweak their operational model. If you are a gay in Nigeria and you lack wisdom, your body will testify of its consequences. Understand that gay lifestyle is not a mainstream culture in Nigeria, so what makes you think if you're low in intelligence added to it would make people admire you?...

To enjoy your homeland and accelerate social acceptance of your community, below are some things you'll want to give a second thought...

• ...But It's Not A Mainstream Idea!

In a society where being gay is the most obnoxious of vices, I still see some gay men adding 'dead prawn to a putrified crab' _ still making fatal mistakes.

*If you are a gay in Nigeria and you lack wisdom, your body will testify of its consequences*

It saddens to know that some gay men now take to prostitution _ too unfortunate! I trust you know that hustling is not a mainstream idea in our country, right? _ people loathe commercial sex workers _ society view them as useless people no matter how wealthy they might be.

Dear gay boy, so tell me why should you add more stink to your despicable sexual orientation? To accelerate social acceptance of the gay community in Nigeria, you'll want to tell Bobrisky's lifestyle bye - he is a gay prostitute. Even if you have a flaw one might overlook it on discovering many good qualities in you. Strive to resist the urge to become a gay commercial sex worker.

• Oh, How I Love Kehinde Bademosi!

The path to be celebrated in life is to make yourself valuable to society; acquire skills, get an education _ become a meaningful specific!

As you already know, Nigerian gay man and branding expert, Kehinde Bademosi (aka Kenny Brandmus) is the founder of Orange Academy, he helped boost many graduates and individuals brand image and was nationally acclaimed before he came out to declare his sexual orientation - though he is now based in the US, Nigerians deep in their hearts knows they've lost a great talent to America. The catch?

Make yourself meaningful to society and it will embrace you. The journey to gay right in Nigeria will begin from the community making themselves useful to society. Don't lead a parasitic life _ become a producer.

• That Straight guy Is A Trojan horse!

So you think you'll succeed to talk him into it and have his anus, right?... Dear gay man you're 99% wrong!

If you cannot control your libido, you'll always cry as a gay man in Nigeria. Seek to keep a close connection with your community; become familiar with other gay men - trust me you'll find one that has those features on that straight guy you admire.

The majority of cases where gay men were arrested in Nigeria, has been as a result of attempting to keep a physical relationship with straight guys. Straight guys are straight guys _ leave them _ irrespective of how you fancy him _ you can still find a gay in your community you'll come to love.

Finally, to live happily and accelerate social acceptance of the LGBTQ community in Nigeria, you guys would have to up your game.
