Former Ballon d'Or winner, George Weah has been announced as the President of Liberia, to replace Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

The acclaimed former world footballer has attained success in his soccer career before venturing into politics.


51-year old former Ballon d'Or winner, George Weah has been announced as the president-elect of Liberia, in West Africa. The former world footballer in a post on his twitter handle, thanked everyone (family, friends, associates etc) who made the election a win for him.

The multiple-award winning footballer has played for many international football team like: Chelsea, Manchester City and others. As he attained success in the soccer world, he is optimistic that he'll lead well as he assumes the position of president of Liberia, even as the incumbent president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf steps down for him.
