Famous Story-teller,Tedx speaker & Gay right activist, Bisi Alimi composes a satirical poem about his hometown; Nigeria.
"Nigeria,
The land where the people are unconscious to the callousness of bomb and death,
As New Yorkers to the sound of sirens & horns.
Like snow in the winter
with its bitter biting cold
bombs fall on the head of the innocent
To many this yuletide
it will be a gift of death
rather than of peace
"Peace to mankind, an illusion borne to the shrine of deceit
Santa, we have been good boys and girls
from Chibok to Baga
Sambisa to Maiduguri.
Kano to Kaduna
We have been good boys and girls
But we know our gift will hurt
as we gather around the yuletide table for dinner
we say our prayers
as it might be our last
The bombs will fall
like snow in winter
no prayer can save us
because like snow the bombs will fall anyway.
